Description

[Substitute an exclamation point (!) for the comma (,) in the title, please. Imagination, people!]

I hope everyone had a good Halloween!
Except for all of you who don't do anything special and just stay at home doing nothing relating to partying, getting candy or scaring kids, you guys are bah-humbuggers! But I digress...

So I thought for a while about what outfit to give Kristen this Halloween, and after a few thoughts (including Maka from Soul-Eater, Belldandy from OMG, and Hakufu Sonsaku from Ikki Tousen), I glanced around my room and spotted THIS!
Arche Klein (Translated: Klaine) from Tales of Phantasia! She had the long hair I needed in a model, and everything else that would be fine, except...with no disrespect to Arche, she's a little...flat. BUT, that's nothing a few extra curves and shadows couldn't fix. (Shadow lines are omitted in this drawing, though)

As far as the figure goes...
I was at first using a different pose, one where she was leaning forward, but I'm still not comfortable with the proportions in that, so I scrapped it.
This pose was actually just a result of sketching and practicing a body. I thought the arm resting on the head was at least a little interesting, so I wanted to use it. Which brings me to my next comment...

I like the way her shoulders came out! I know it's hard to tell with the outfit covering them, but the shoulders in here are are better than ones I'd done before; not just balls that are awkwardly far from the head- this time they work WITH the body instead of being independant from it.

Her head is a bit different than usual. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something isn't 99% right (I'm not perfect enough to say 100). Whatever it is, I decided to let it slide since the drawing as a whole looked passable.

There are still some imperfections in the lines; I'm not very good at inking, no matter how long I've had these pens for. I've only inked about 5 drawings, but I think the real problem is the way I draw, which is mainly in short strokes instead of the "long, confident movements" which are typically used in inking.
I try to digitally trace the image, to make it smoother and more appealing, but it kind of makes it look worse (and sometimes takes away her left eye!), so I'll just stick to manual tracing.

Oh well.

Let me know what you think!
